My not so secret Secret Part 2
Valentines Day Fourth of July Labor Day
If you have not read My not so secret Secret, go back and read it so you have context on this post. I left off that post with Valentine's Day 2017. I enjoyed the night with my family and my favorite friends ( pizza, cupcakes, and chocolate covered strawberries) and I had every intention of hopping back on the wagon! I weighed 266 on February 15th and by May 16th I weighed 282 pounds. You may be thinking, how does that happen! How do you gain 16 pounds in 3 months? Why did you let all that hard work go down the drain?
Sugar! That's the reason. Hello, My Name is Nicole and I am addicted to sugar! That giant hit of sugar on Valentine's Day started all my cravings back. In addition, I was super busy growing my business with more clients and managing a team member. Most days, I worked from 8:30 to 10:30pm...only only taking a break from 5-7pm to be with my kids. I made no time to work out because I had so much work to do that I felt I needed that precious hour. Plus, most days I didn't do anything fun or just for me so food was my fun thing! When I did make time to do something fun or just for me, it involved eating and drinking with my husband or friends!
I know this probably sounds familiar to a lot of you reading this. I made excuses! I keep saying next Monday, I will get back on track but by Tuesday when someone offered me a free donut the willpower went right out the window. My birthday was April 29 and I looked at all that was going on in my life and I realized that I could not continue. We had a Disney cruise the week after my birthday so I said that when I get back I was going to get my shit together. Well, things were crazy when I got back because I was gone a week so kept giving my self more time.
Then I woke up the day before Memorial Day and told my husband I was going sugar-free and gluten-free the next day. I asked him to grill on Sunday and said we would have dessert and then I would be done. I was having a sugar free summer! He played along although, I am sure he didn't quite believe it. Hell, I didn't quite believe it. But Memorial Day, I started my #sugarfreesummer! I blogged about it and had my own Instagram hashtag (#ifnsugarfreesummer) about it! But I never shared the weight loss numbers.
Not very impressive, I know. It was amazing that I had given up sugar and gluten ( at least 90% of the time) but I was eating a ton of crap instead. Spinach dip and tortilla chips were my go-to treat! I still had pizza and french fries! I was impressed that I had no cookies, cakes, ice cream, donuts, etc. I had also started working out. I faithfully did a 5-week boot camp 6 days a week, mostly before 7am! But I realized this was not enough. This was a great first step but I knew that this would not get me to my weight loss goals. So after I returned from my annual fourth of July "eat all things and gain weight" trip I was 277.2. In comes the Arbonne 30 Days to Healthy Living program. I simply followed the plan and by 8/8 I was 268.8. Happily and firmly back in the 260s.
I went into the 80/20 lifestyle and by Labor Day I was 266.4. I was losing a pound a week! Not amazing but totally normal, healthy, and going in the right direction! After conquering my sugar-free summer, I decided to have a dairy free Fall. Dairy is in all my go to cheat foods- Pizza, Nachos, Spinach Dip and Cheeseburgers! Dairy is all horrible for my skin! My ance flares up every time I have it!
So, how is my dairy-free fall coming along?? Stay tuned for Part 3!
